Why now?

New Beginnings...

At the start of this year my goal was to start my own healthy lifestyle business. Now this year has been tricky but this has been a dream of mine for a while now so nothing was going to stop me. I wanted to combine my passions of exercise, food and leisure together to create an experience for others and so something was born - ‘The Wright Life’.

I chose to take a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and once I finished I pursued a job in this field working as a healthy lifestyle practitioner, so I understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the health benefits. Of course there are physical benefits, but I am interested in the benefits for our wellbeing and social life too! We are now living in a world where technology, the environment, and many other factors make it harder and harder to live a ‘healthy lifestyle’.

But what is a healthy lifestyle?

A healthy lifestyle is not a three week diet that guarantees you lose ten pounds. Nor is it an intensive boot camp that requires you to do fifty sit-ups at 2am.

A healthy lifestyle is a balance, and that balance may not be the same for everyone.

With ‘The Wright Life’ I want to help you find your balance. ‘The Wright Life’ will help you make a life-long change to becoming the best you.

Then lockdown happened….

I have been an exercise instructor since 2018 (see “About” for more info) and when gyms closed down in March 2020 due to Covid-19 I was no longer instructing. Like so many during lockdown, I suddenly found myself missing something that I took for granted before.

Instructing a group exercise class was one of the highlights of my week, being able to do something I love with others and pushing them to reach their own goals gave me a buzz like nothing else. This realisation gave me the push I needed to start The Wright Life. And the first step on this journey is teaching group exercise classes, because you should always start with the things you love, right?.

So what should I do now?

During the months without gyms I was missing exercise and with so little social interaction my confidence to go back to the gym decreased. I wanted to provide others who may have been feeling the same way, with a safe way to exercise as a group, without pushing people out of their comfort zone.

I didn’t want Covid-19 to stop me from achieving my goal and now more than ever people need support so in September 2020 I decided to hire my local village hall. Following government guidelines I started offering a safe exercise class to the locals of Occold and surrounding villages.

However due to Covid-19 lockdown 2.0 and 3.0 the classes in the village hall were cancelled. I wanted to continue my classes and support people so I moved virtual, now offering exercise classes to anyone in the country. I have seen people from Suffolk, Kent, Essex, Leeds and Northampton!

What do the classes provide?

These classes are aerobic based classes that burn calories, tone and build muscle, and improve flexibility and strength. All exercise abilities and fitness levels are welcome, and I want to help each individual participant achieve their own goal, with others around them motivating them along. So far I have really enjoyed getting back into instructing again, I have met some lovely new people in my village and across the country and we have a laugh each week. I look forward to meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals.

My dreams of the future….

I have more plans and goals on how I would like to expand ‘The Wright Life’ including additional classes, corporate packages and retreats. I am so grateful for all the support from new participants, my friends and family. Please keep sharing and I hope to bring more new and exciting features very soon.

Thanks,

Madi Wright - The Wright Life
